Gardening Fail & Do Over!!! Not Giving up!!

So one of my clients likes trying a bunch of different things. One of the things he wanted to try is gardening. So last year we went to Costco got a raised bed & dirt, plants. We put it up and..... nothing!! He forgot about it unless I brought it up & even then is seemed like it was ALL my job. I felt like I was pushing him to do something he did not want to do. So I let it go. I thought that it was a waste of money & a total fail. But there was something nagging me in the back of my head saying try again. But why? I did not want to make this a hassle or forced.

So I started to think it though. He loved to pick the strawberries when they were in season. Almost never did I need to ask him to do it. Why was that? Well, it was just outside the sliding door. Easy access, fun, easy. The other garden was around the corner, not seen, almost hidden.

So yesterday Christine, David & I went about moving the raised garden to the back. It was a team effort & a lot of fun. It did not take as long as we thought either.

Now that is is moved & the dirt was put in David & I went shopping for veggies. We went to Potter's & ohh boy did David go hog wild.

We got 2 lettuces, spinach, 2 tomato plants, cauliflower, zucchini & cucumbers.

He's known as Farmer John now. This is so better. I feel so much better. Not in the picture is a blueberry bush. I love spring. It is so full of potential.

Why I love TOPS!!

Today is a snow day so I put out a challenge to our TOPS group to write a post on 'Why I love TOPS?' What is TOPS you ask well it stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. It is a nation wide group full of support & information on how to loose weight &/or maintain a healthy weight.  We have a monthly magazine, a book on how to loose weight in a healthy way. There are recipes, meal plans (if you need), support, groups to keep you accountable.

I love TOPS because it is not restrictive. If you are a meat eater, only eat fish or a vegan you can work your diet according your needs. It also helps with physical activities too. It gives you things that anyone can do. Everyone is included. I love that. We have discussions on many different topics that pertain to our health. There are retreats, incentives, webinars, online groups, in person groups.

I find it really a lot of fun & supportive. I started just before Covid hit. So I only was part of TOPS for a month before the world closed. We came back in September 2022 with about 1/3 of our group but we are still here working on our goals.

If you are interested in TOPS ask. It is a great place to meet new people & have some fun while getting healthy.

Schemer Slipover

I just finished a vest called the Schemer Slipover. I saw on someone when I was at a talk with Stephanie Pearl McPhee during Knit City.  It looked beautiful on the person. It was a simple pretty that gave just enough warm on a day that was transitioning from summer to fall. I liked enough to immediately purchase  the pattern & go on the hunt for yarn for it.  Here is my Ravelry Page: Schemer Rav Page

I am working towards a wardrobe  that will be long lasting, things that are a bit classic, fits my lifestyle & suits my body shape. I am trying to not be so critical of my body. I am trying to find things that  layer because I over heat easily. I find that I NEED comfort first. Something will still be pretty but will be comfortable & not distracting to me.
